Patrick Ewing dominated the Houston Rockets at both ends of the court. He led the New York Knicks to a 91-84 victory at Madison Square Garden. The victory gave New York a 3-2 series lead.
Ewing was able to surpass Akeem Orajwon in the game. Ewing finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 8 blocks. Orajwon had 27 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Knicks also made significant contributions from John Starks and Anthony Mason. Starks scored 19 points, Mason finished with 17 points and rebounded 9 from the bench.
The game was a draw after three quarters, but Knicks beat Houston 30-23 in the fourth quarter.
Ewing’s record continued for 15 years until Dwight Howard blocked nine shots in Game 4 of Orlando Magic’s 2009 NBA Finals.
