Baltimore – North Carolina finished the perfect season by defeating Boston University 12-11 on Sunday afternoon and winning the 2022 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship, the third national title in program history.
The top-ranked Tar Heels finished season 22-0, set a winning school record and became the first undefeated national champion since 2017 (and 11th in NCAA history).
In front of Homewood Field’s 8,500-seat capacity on the Johns Hopkins University campus, Tar Heels was secured by a graduate goalkeeper. Taylor MorenoI made 11 saves on the day. UNC Defense held BC without a goal of 8:35 in the fourth quarter until the Eagles came up with a slow goal of pulling within one with 15 seconds remaining. Carolina won the next draw, claiming victory and defeating BC for the third time this season.

“First of all, congratulations to BC for today’s great season and great match,” Levy said at a post-match press conference. “I thought this would be a big deal. It’s no surprise that it was a goal. I’ve lost a lot of this crew’s one-goal game in the last two years. How many years in a final four match? I’m glad I was on the other side because I spent a lot of time, and I always think that if I can lose a one-goal game, I can win a one-goal game.
