The Princeton field hockey team enters the exact spot you’ve always wanted on the first Saturday in November. With the Tigers playing in Columbia and the regular season ending, there’s still plenty of field hockey to play.

NCAA Bound
Princeton closed out the league’s automatic bid for the Ivy League title and the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 win over Brown last week. Princeton entered the regular final weekend of his season 6-0 in the league, one game ahead of 5-1 Harvard.


If Princeton loses to Columbia and Harvard loses to Brown, Princeton and Harvard will tie the league title. Princeton still gets automatic bids thanks to their win over Crimson.


The 18 NCAA tournament fields, along with the four host sites, will be announced Sunday night at 10 p.m. on ncaa.com. Two play-in games will take place on Wednesday, with rounds 1 and 2 next Friday and Sunday. The Final Four will be held at UConn next weekend.

Princeton’s 2022 Ivy title is 27th in program history. All other teams in the league have won his 25 Ivy titles combined.


A win over Columbia would set Princeton to a perfect league record at 20 games in a seasonth time. The last time Princeton went back-to-back seasons without winning the Ivy title was in 1992-93.



Series history
this is 25th In a meeting between Princeton and Columbia, Princeton holds a 23-1 lead in the series. Columbia’s win came in 2014 in New York City during a season in which the Lions finished second in the league behind Princeton.


Since that loss, Princeton have won all six games between the two, beating Colombia 30-5 on aggregate. Colombia’s win gives the Lions a league record for wins for the first time since 2017.

Beth Yeager leads the league with 11 goals, and Princeton has two other players in the top 10 (Sammy Popper9th, 4th, Sam Davidson6th, 7th).


Ophelie Bemelmans is the league’s only double-digit player with 11 assists. Jager leads the league with his 30 points (11 goals, 8 assists), Popper (20 points puts him fourth), Grace Schultz (6th, 17 points), Davidson (10 points)th12 points) and Ali McCarthy (11th11 points, missed 4 games due to injury).
