nebraska on offense
They weren’t the best team to shoot beyond the arc, and apparently couldn’t hit open shots, especially in their recent loss to Illinois. Matt Painter’s team doesn’t give up too many open shots.
As if their record didn’t show, Nebrasketball is a very mediocre team offensively. The Huskers are 213th in the open with an effective field goal percentage he has 49.3 and some of his off-the-ball moves show what can be expected, but he’s not great at making jumpers. Objectively, they move the ball well, but if I’m a Nebraska fan, I need to see more well-crafted shots falling. It takes the best three-point shooting night of the season to win (at home) against a team that is less than and once lost.
They’re bad at shooting free throws and Purdue is a big team that doesn’t foul, so it’s not going to be an argument after the game. They shoot a lot on low blocks.
They’re great when setting up a high pick-and-roll to Griesel, but against a team the size of Purdue it becomes much harder. It’s just another case of what you can do. 22-’23 Boiler team tradition.
nebraska on defense
It’s an evergreen statement when it comes to profiling Purdue’s opponents, only much smaller than Boilermaker. They don’t have enough size to win the board. Very few second chance points.
It may sound like a broken record, but Purdue has the most dominant center in college basketball, playing against players who would be classified as forwards if they entered the NBA. A 7-foot-4 athletic center like Zach Edey wins in the paint 9-of-10 against a 6-foot-9 center.
They are good at perimeter defense to protect the lane and I think we all know who has the advantage in this matchup.
Against a team that moves the ball well, they play close and play clean around, but as soon as an opponent drives someone into the lane, the Huskers crowd the lane, leaving shooting guards and small forwards out of the way. You tend to lose sight of who can find some space in a double team situation. The Purdue works very well in those situations. It’s hard for a short team to avoid double his squad with a player with the physique and athleticism of Edy. This is another example of picking poison when trying to find ways to limit the frontrunners for Player of the Year.
X Factor – Sales
Nebraska doesn’t steal the ball particularly well, a middling stat of 8.3% ranked 260th, so they’re going to have to make some changes to one of the surest teams in the country. I have. Purdue is going to be a tough job against a taller team, as he ranks 42nd in offensive turnover percentage. If Purdue handles the ball, they should have an easy night. Boilermakers are out He almost certainly won’t rebound or out block, so just take care of the ball and the rest will take care of itself.
predict
Galette
Purdue – 78
Nebraska – 59
Nebraska has looked erratic all year long and has basically struggled in all areas where Purdue excels defensively. An early season matchup on the road looks more like a fluke for the Boilermakers than a success for the Cornhuskers, eat crows if you’re wrong but Boiler his ball he’s Friday the 13th It’s like Brie’s ball in West his Lafayette.
Kempom
Purdue – 72
Nebraska – 57
