Raptors at NBA Draft: 9 players who could make sense at No. 33

when Raptors The front office was betting on the trade between Thaddeus Young and Goran Dragic by the February deadline. PistonsThey were giving their own first round, so choose as they can in the second half of the first round.

After the season, the move will accept 13 pick slides, Spurs Picking up the 20th pick, the Raptors get the 33rd selection. Under Masai Ujiri, the Raptors used a one-third pick from the bottom in the first round to grab Bruno Caboclo. Delon Wright, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby When Malachi Flynn.. The Raptors, on the other hand, had only one pick in the thirties since Ujiri came from Denver: DeAndre Daniels, in the 37th selection in 2014. NBA.. He is currently playing in Australia.

Who can use it? Well, I went through four simulated drafts — Sam Beseny’s and Athletic, Kevin O Connor’s At Ringer (and his Top 40 big board), Jonathan Gibony With ESPN One on nbadraft.net — And I dug some. There are 23 players who have average selections above 25th and are unlikely to drop out of the first round. It’s still nearly four weeks before the draft, leaving a lot of time for players to be impressed and disappointed. But for now, let’s assume they’re gone before the Raptors choose.

(Early participation candidates will be able to withdraw from the draft by June 1st and retain NCAA qualifications, so the selection pool is subject to change. Some mock assumes that certain players will withdraw. It is not expected to be elected because it is.)

Definitely off board at 33

Probably off board at 33

After those guys, there are seven players who predict that at least three of the mock drafts will be gone before the Raptors choose. That is, 30 out of the first 32 picks in the draft have a de facto consensus, which is arguably incorrect. The team will be off board, especially in the second half of the first round. For now, as June 23 approaches, consider revisiting them and take them out of consideration.

Raptors range

It leaves a whole bunch of people who could be the Raptors. Below is a longer list, but here are nine. Here are some bonus players that may not have been drafted that may be suitable for playing in the Las Vegas Summer League Raptors.

(All heights with shoes on Measured with a recent NBA draft combineAll ages are at the start of the 2022-23 season. )

Most Raptors-y Pick

Darentelli, Arizona
6ft-7 | Tsubasa | 20 years old | 2nd grade
8.0 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, 1.2 steals per game, 50.2 FG%

Terry is 6 feet 7 and wingspan is 7 feet, so check the obvious box. He’s been a little more successful as a shooter than the Raptors’ outlook in the past, reaching 36.4% of last year’s 3, but doing little from dribbling. He is known for his noise, deflection and rebound. He has secondary playmaking skills. In the second round, the hit rate drops dramatically, but Terry makes a lot of sense as a raptor.

Most Raptors-y Pick, Canada Division

Leonard Miller prepares for Fort Erie
6ft-10 | Forward | 19 years old | Senior high school
31.0 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.9 SPG 50 FG% (Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association)

He has a typical Raptors type (7-2 wingspan with excellent agility and athletic performance) and a Kabokuro experiment (never played college basketball, using the pre-draft process, college, G League or NBA. ). He was impressed by the Nike Hoop Summit playing in Team World and was determined to be drafted because he graduated from graduate school. Logic says that if Miller doesn’t get the guarantee for the first round, he’ll go another route, but perhaps such an agreement at 33 on his home team would do the same. Miller is a long-term play, but the Raptors have the development infrastructure to make it work.

Cultural person

Harrison Ingram, Stanford
6ft-7 | Forward | 19 years old | Freshman
10.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 3.0 APG, 0.9 SPG, 38.8 FG%

Had his score gone a little further, he would have been able to raise Terry’s spot. As it is, he really struggled with his touch around the basket. It’s unclear what his timeline will look like when combined with a jumper that requires a lot of work. Of course, the Raptors turned the player who might have been so described a year ago into the Rookie of the Year.Ingram is hardly an athlete Scottie Barnes But he has a lot of feel and most sizes.

A man who says “I am a basketball player” when asked what position he is playing

Trevor Keels, Duke
6ft-5 | Tsubasa | 19 years old | Freshman
11.5 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.2 SPG, 41.9 FG%

Meet the potential second round that is most likely to gain a reputation by playing your ass. Despite his relatively shortage of size (he’s 6 feet 3 and changes clothes without shoes), he has his desire to be a great advocate and the tenacity to tease the way to paint. I have He’s also the man who picks up the glass, the tool the Raptors are looking for. Beyond his death, he is almost always the provider of the dirty work of crime at this point.

The best center still available

Christian Koloko, Arizona
7ft | Center | 22 years old | Junior
12.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.4 APG, 2.8 blocks per game, 63.5 FG%

If the Raptors choose not to offer Pascal Siakam a contract extension, all they can do is get new teammates from his hometown of Douala in Cameroon. Like Siakam, Koroko focused primarily on football until his late teens. But Koroko’s three years in Arizona far exceed Siakam’s simultaneous experience in his career. Koroko still has a lot of development before him, but he’s a great shot blocker with excellent lateral speed and the type that the Raptors may decide to gamble.

Most likely ready to contribute immediately

Wendell Moore Jr., Duke
6ft-5 | Tsubasa | 21 years old | Junior
13.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, 50 FG%

His wingspan was measured longer than 7 feet in the combine before Moore decided it was too boring for the Raptors. The Raptors could see much more defensive ups than they sometimes showed that he was playing with a super talented Duke team. However, he lacks an athletic burst and could slip in as a creator from a closeout rather than as a major playmaker. That’s okay — he made a big jump last year to become a 41.3% 3-point shooter, and his free-throw percentage was better than 80 in his three seasons at Duke.

Completely opposed to type

Jean Montero, team overtime
6ft-2 | Guard | 19 years old | International
16.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 4.7 APG, 3.4 SPG, 39.8 FG%

Montero played professionally on Gran Canaria, Spain, before coming to the United States to play for the overtime elite. He is a good ball handler and has the ability to maneuver on a half-court without any other obvious plus skills, but he shows some flashes of quality shooting. When drafting the point guard, the Raptors went all-in to toughness and pedigree (Fred VanVleetFlynn) or length (light, Darano Banton). Montero is a big departure and it will make him even more interesting.

High pedigree Canadian

Caleb Hustan, Michigan
6ft-8 | Forward | 19 years old | Freshman
10.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.7 SPG, 38.4 FG%

Houstan from Mississauga, Ontario, did not attend the draft meeting last week, leading to the usual speculation that the team gave him the first outlook. Oklahoma City 30 days. Coming out of the Montverde Academy, Cade Cunningham, Burns and many others played. Last year, Hustan was a top rookie and a high-end prospect.

Fun odd ball

David Roddy, Colorado
6ft-6 | Forward | 21 years old | Junior
19.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.2 SPG, 57.1 FG%

No one will be surprised at the empty gym because he is an elderly prospect who lacks athletic ability. He is also called “cunning” in all the stories written about him. PJ Tucker, Draymond Green When Grant WilliamsIt’s not a bad time to profile as a 6’6 square human. He is a wise and aggressive player, and his instinct can turn him into an elite chargetaker, if his agility allows.

The most intriguing potential undrafted free agent

Andrew Nembhard, Gonzaga
6ft-4 | Guard | 22 years old | Senior
11.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 5.8 APG, 1.6 SPG, 45.2 FG%

As expected from seniors who swept the season due to the transfer, Nembad dominated the combine’s scrimmage part and was probably a mid-to-late second-rounder. However, Aurora, Ontario’s products are the type of product that wins the Raptors’ love from point guards, and it’s clear that if he slips, he’s an ideal candidate for the Raptors 905.

Julian Champany, St. Johns
6ft-8 | Tsubasa | 21 years old | Junior
19.2 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, 41.4 FG%

Julian is Justin Champany’s brother, and the Raptors staff couldn’t say good enough about the two-way signature from a year ago. Julian plays a major role in St. John’s and there is some work to be done to prove that he can thrive in less attractive places on the roster. If his competitiveness is like his brother, he is certainly the player the Raptors are looking at.
