Report: Kansas pulls Bill Self off recruiting trail amid NCAA case

The Kansas Jayhawks Bill Self has just finished the national championship and, in theory, should be benefiting from the hiring world. But according to Matt Nolander CBS Sports’ head coach was removed from the road during the July recruitment live, due to a program proceeding against the NCAA.

In addition to self, assistant coach Kurtis Townsend is also at home. Two other assistants are out, but have not been involved in the NCAA investigation.

“Self and Townsend have been subject to voluntary sanctions from Kansas, which has been a long-standing battle with the NCAA, triggered by the FBI’s investigation into bribery and corruption in college basketball recruitment. Therefore, it represents the first collaborative effort by the program, “says Norlander. In his report. “KU received a petition notice from the NCAA in September 2019 and responded in a strong language in May 2020. Since then, the State of Kansas and the NCAA have been publicly silent on the incident.”

Last weekend, the Nike EYBL Peach Jam was held in South Carolina and was one of the biggest weekends on the college basketball recruitment calendar. All of the top sports coaches were there, but Self was significantly absent. A huge event where the J-Hawks headman would have been able to make some moves.

Kansas is now 2023 class However, I sent a lot of offers. Self has always been one of the top recruiters in the country and has been shown by landing a class close to the top 10. Last year’s cycle.. Five-star prospects continue to play college basketball at Lawrence.

Since Self isn’t out, he doesn’t take immediate action to meet new employees. Coaches will not be able to meet new employees in person until mid-September. However, according to Nolander, it is still possible that Self and Thompson have not yet been involved by then.

Until then, Self needs to focus on his next 2022-2023 season and look to defend his national championship crown. J-Hawks roster sales are high this season and head coaches have to start from scratch. His run in March will last forever, but for now it’s about wearing the product to return to the final four.
