Stanford, Oregon advance to NCAA women’s championship final

After a long and hot day in the semi-finals and semi-finals (a total of about 36 holes), the two top seed teams are heading to the finals of the NCAADI Women’s Golf Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

After the two teams win from the semi-final match play, it will be 1st seed Stanford vs. 2nd Oregon.

Oregon was the first team to secure its position in the final, defeating Texas A & M 4-1 to advance to the first championship match.

Texas A & M’s only victory was a match between Aggie’s Adela Sernosec and Oregon’s Sophie Kibsgard Nielsen. I went back and forth in the first 10 holes before Sernosec took the lead and aimed for one win.

In an exciting match, Oregon’s Chinzchen chased A & M’s Blanc Cafe Lunandez Garcia Poggio 4-1. Chen won the 5th and 6th holes and maintained the lead on all but one back nine hole. On her side, Fernandez Garcia-Poggio made a hole-in-one on the 16th hole, but had to make a concession on the 17th hole. Chen won the match between 2 and 1.

For the second time on Tuesday, Hsin-Yu “Cynthia” Lu ended the Oregon match with a 16th par.

Lou never gave up A & M’s advantage over Zoe Slaughter. Zoe Slaughter could only make Taiwanese stars the best with 13th and 14th.

Oregon is the Pac-12 Champion and has been strong throughout the season. All five team members are ranked in the top 50 college students in the country.

For Stanford, who was also the top seed in match play last year before falling to Arizona in the quarterfinals, this is a redemption victory.

Aline Krauter faced Auburn’s Elina Sinz. After climbing 1 on the first hole, Krauter and Sints tied on the second hole, and Sints had the advantage of running a 7-hole run. Clauter was able to regain the lead with a back nine and made a concession on the 17th hole.

Stanford freshman Brooke Seey was unable to repeat a hole-in-one from the final round of stroke play on Monday, but was able to maintain control of the round against Auburn’s Cary Telfer. In the middle of the match, Telfer won 8th and tied things up. She gave up the hole again at number 13 and tied it at number 17. Eventually, Shii secures Pat for No. 18 Stanford’s berth.
