Strong collective effort leads NC State by Furman, 92-73

teeth. It was easy. Eerily easy. It’s nice in times like this.

Furman made the first bucket of the night, which ended up being the top score of the Paladins’ contest.

North Carolina State led 26-10 in just eight minutes, and Furman fought back with an 11-0 run to make the score 26-21, but it didn’t take long for the Wolfpack to re-establish a double. It didn’t take. Number lead and keep it there.

Having a good game, Jack Clark hit a three that broke Furman’s run (and State’s four-minute drought) and put the puck on its way.

State had built a 19-point advantage by halftime, and if they threatened to relinquish an even larger lead, the players silenced them by starting the second half with a 14-4 run. It got better in the second half as he finally started reducing his mistakes, but by then he was a little behind.

Turcavion-Smith scored 24 points on 9-17 shooting and led all scorers, including 4-8 on three shots. Casey Morsell scored 17 on his 5-11 shooting (4-9 on 3) and Jack Clark scored 15 on his 5-8 shooting.

The pack’s devastating defense was a big topic in the first half. Furman he turned the ball over 14 times, preventing the Paladins from entering the offensive stream and giving the states an easy transition opportunity.

LJ Thomas closed out the night with a team-best 4 steals, which gave him a career-high 14 points. He had a really strong night.

14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals are doing a lot in 19 minutes of work and are a pretty strong argument for more playing time in the near future.

The North Carolina State offense was scoring fine, but Furman’s offense held below points per possession for the second time this season. The Wolfpack did really well tonight.
