Syracuse basketball defeats Indiana (Pa.) 86-68 in exhibition opener (final score, recap)

Syracuse, NY — The Syracuse basketball team will face Indiana, Pennsylvania, in an exhibition game on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Final: Syracuse 86, IUP 68

After really struggling to get moving and score in the first half, Syracuse woke up and started attacking in the second half in an exhibition win over IUP.

Joe Girard leads Syracuse with 17 points. Jesse Edwards scored 16 points. Benny Williams scored his 15 points and freshman Judah Mintz scored his 14 points in his debut against Orange.

Dave Morris dropped 21 points for the Crimson Hawks to lead all scorers.

Orange sparked in the second half with a 14-0 run.

Syracuse outscored IUP 54-35 in the second half. Orange overall he scored 31/60 (51.75).

The line-up of Mintz, Girard, Copeland, Williams and Edwards proved to be the most effective for SU.

Syracuse will have its second and final exhibition of the season with Southern New Hampshire on November 1st at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Orange is looking to salt the win after trailing most of the game. What sparked Syracuse was the participation of Jesse Edwards in the paint. He has 14 points.

As noted by Mike Waters, Syracuse needs to enlist Jesse Edwards to take on a team whose tallest starter is 6’8. Edwards only had 6 points and shots he made only 3 attempts.
