Texas A&M soccer makes NCAA tournament, will play at Texas in opening round



Prior to last season, the Texas A&M soccer team had advanced to the NCAA Tournament for 26 consecutive years. Well, after a year-long lull, the Aggies are back in the postseason this season, somewhat surprisingly. Below is a release from Texas A&M Athletics.

The Texas A&M Aggies travel to Austin for Friday’s first-round match of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Division I Championship at Mike A. Myers Stadium against the No. 16 Texas Longhorns.First pitch at 5:00 p.m.

Texas A&M has made a massive bid for the 27th Annual NCAA Championship.th An invitation to Maroon & White for the last 28 years.

The Aggies are 9-6-5 on the season and are 40th in the RPI.Maroons and Whites are led into battle by All SEC performers Maile Hayes When Mia Pante. The first-team forward Hayes leads A&M with 23 points on eight goals and five assists. Second-team midfielder Panthe has 3 goals and 7 assists and he has 13 points.

Texas is the 7th seed in the UCLA Quadrant. The Longhorns finished the year with his 14-2-4 record and a 7-2 record to earn the Big 12 regular season crown.

The Aggies have a 21-5-2 dominance in their all-time series against Texas. The last meeting was also the first round match of the 2019 NCAA Tournament at Ellis Field, where the Maroons & Whites won him 4-1.

Texas A&M and Texas have two common opponents during the season. In Austin Texas won him 3-2 and in Gainesville he won A&M he won 4-1. The Longhorns at Fort Worth he drew TCU 1-1 and the Maroons & Whites at Ellis Field he made a 2-1 decision.

The SEC selected 9 teams in the 64-team field, including Alabama as the No. 1 seed. Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt also won bids. This tally matched the 2017 and 2018 totals and matched league bests.

This will be the third time the Aggies have played the NCAA Championship away from Ellis Field since 2010, including the 2020 campaign where all games of the tournament were in North Carolina.

The winner of Friday’s match will advance to the second round, where they will face Duke or Radford on Friday, November 18, in a location yet to be determined. The Women’s College Cup is scheduled for his December 2nd and his December 5th in Cary, North Carolina.
