The Bulls shut down Utah Jazz at their home in Chicago. They won 96-54 and led the 2-1 series.
This was one of the most biased games in postseason history. Karl Malone was the only jazz player to score in double digits. He finished with 22 points, 8-11 in a field goal attempt, but also had seven turnovers. The rest of the team went to 13-59 in a field goal attempt.
Utah has set the record for the fewest points in a playoff game since the NBA began using a 24-second shot clock.
Michael Jordan finished with 24 points to lead the Bulls. The explosion allowed the Bulls to give veteran stars such as Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman a little extra rest.
Jazz scored only 9 points in the fourth quarter and 23 points in the second half.
Ironically, in 1986 Jordan scored 63 points in a playoff game with the Boston Celtics.
Jazz counterattacked in the series, but Jordan and the Bulls won six games to win the championship three times in a row.
