The Knicks became the first eight seed to make it to the NBA Finals on this date in 1999

New York Knicks Won 90-82 At home in Game 6 to advance to the NBA Finals. In doing so, they eliminated their rival Indiana Pacers.

Allan Houston scored 32 points to lead the way to New York. He played 47:01 in the game. Latrell Sprewell has added 20 points.

Knicks beat the Pacers 31-23 in the fourth quarter, holding Reggie Miller to 8 points with a 3-18 shot in the game.

Knicks’ incredible run began when he sneaked into the playoffs as the 8th seed after a disappointing regular season.

They confused the number one seed Miami Heat in the first round. Knicks fought to force Game 5 to win or lose in Miami. New York was one point behind, and Houston hit a shot that won the match with less than a second left.

Knicks then took advantage of that momentum to wipe out the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the postseason.

At the Eastern Conference Finals, they undertook Miller and the Pacers.

With Patrick Ewing’s double-double, New York won a road victory in Game 1. However, after Game 2, it became clear that he had an Achilles tendon injury. Ewing will miss the rest of the postseason.

When the series were tied together in one game, Knicks returned to Madison Square Garden. They dragged 91-88 when they ran out of time in the game, but with just over five seconds left, Larry Johnson hit three pointers and fouled in play. He hit a free throw and gave New York a 92-91 lead. The Pacers failed to score and Knicks won Game 3.

Indiana won Game 4, but Knicks bounced off with a decisive 101-94 victory on the streets of Game 5. They beat the Pacers 36-25 in the fourth quarter. Sprewell finished 29 points, Marcus Camby 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks from the bench.

Knicks then closed the series at home and sent him to the NBA Finals to play the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs were dominant throughout the postseason, thanks to Tim Duncan and David Robinson. The final was no exception, and Knicks missed Ewing badly. Their magical run was defeated by San Antonio in five games.

Still, the disappointing ending should not take away the impressive run of New York.
