The Lakers acquired Wilt Chamberlain from 76ers in exchange for Darrall Imhoff, Archie Clark, Jerry Chambers, and cash.

Chamberlain spent five dominant seasons in Los Angeles. He led the NBA in rebounds in four of those seasons and a percentage of field goals in three of those seasons.

Chamberlain helped the Lakers defeat Knicks in the NBA Finals, averaging 14.7 points and 21 rebounds per game in the 1972 postseason. He was selected as the Final MVP.

A few years after Chamberlain retired in 1973, the Lakers replaced another legendary center, Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Abdul Jabbar has won five titles in Los Angeles.

It’s no exaggeration to say that both deals were very successful for the Lakers. Both players are currently retiring their jersey numbers by Los Angeles.
