The Rockets became the first six seed to win the NBA Finals on this date 25 years ago

The Houston Rockets completed the Orlando Magic sweep at home 113-101 in Game 4 on this day in 1995.

Houston began an unlikely victory over Utah Jazz in the first round of the postseason. They dragged 2-1 in the best of the five series. An explosive victory at home forced a win-loss match in Utah. Houston traveled to Orlando for Game 1 of the final. Orlando’s Nick Anderson missed four consecutive free throws. This may have cleared the game for Magic. Instead, Smith hit three pointers connecting the rocket game with 1.6 seconds remaining. The match was a draw at 118 and the extra time was running out, so Orajwon shot the winning shot with 0.3 seconds remaining.

Magic was unable to recover from the collapse in Game 1, and Rockets won the next three games in the series to complete the sweep. It was the second consecutive championship.

Orajwon has been selected as the Final MVP for the second consecutive year.
