Three Prepped for NW Arkansas Championship Qualifier

Three student-athletes from the University of Arkansas Women’s Golf Team will represent the Razorbacks in Monday’s qualifier for the P&G-sponsored Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Miriam Ayora Julia Gregg and her Ffion Tynan play tomorrow for a chance to advance to the weekend’s tournament. Not like in Arkansas, a college golfer has the opportunity to attend his LPGA tournament in the backyard of his home.

This is the fourth year that Arkansas has been invited to the Championship Qualifier three times. Action on Monday begins at 1:00 pm with 18 holes of stroke play. Top 2 advance.

Ayora is playing in the first qualifier for the NW Arkansas Championship. After recording his 222 (72-74-74), the Jr. finished Carmel in his Cup with the Razorbacks in his 13th place. Ayora last season he played 31 rounds in all 11 events, two of which he finished in the top 10. The Spaniard posted his career-low 212 (67-74-71) in his Waverley Alleys at Old and tied for 9th in his College Eight at Blessing last October.

Greg is one of the most seasoned golfers on the team, she is in her senior season and has played in the qualifiers for the second year in a row. The Texas native Farmer’s Branches was one of his two hogs to appear in all 33 rounds last season, scoring average (73.94) and number of rounds above par (11) on the team. Finished the year in his second. She recorded her career-low 210 (72-70-68) in her Classic last year’s Cougar and scored her career-high sixth place.

Tynan is finishing his freshman season with six tournament appearances. The Welsh native has scored his three rounds above par, including a minimum of 70 rounds at his Invitational at Moongolf. Tynan had a successful summer of amateur golf, winning the Welsh Women’s Amateur Championship and World Amateur Team Championship where he was one of his three representatives for Wales, finishing 64th. .

Kajal Mistry, who qualified for the 2021 weekend, received sponsorship waivers this year. Mistry has been named a Golfweek All American Honorable Mention and an All-SEC First Team Choice. The South African native leads the team in scoring average (73.18) and number of rounds above par (14), and is the first in Mountain View with his career-low 206 (68-67-71) in his college eight. Won an individual medalist. She represented South Africa at WATC and finished 28th.

Mistry could be further put on hold for Monday’s qualifiers, with Maria Fassi (2015-19), Stacey Lewis (2004-08), Gaby Lopez (2012-16) and Brooke Matthews (2017-21). ) and Alana Uriel (2014-18).
