Three Thoughts in Big 12 Women’s Bracketology for Jan. 10

Kansas State Women's Basketball Coach Jeff Mitty

For the second straight week, the Big 12 includes ESPN’s newest seven teams Bracketing for next March’s Women’s NCAA Tournament.

But there is one team riding the bubble. do you think you know who it is? Here are his three thoughts on ESPN’s latest Women’s Bracketology, from the Big 12’s perspective.

Kansas bubble situation

of Kansas State Wildcats — who remained firmly on the field for most of the season — are firmly on the bubble after a 1-2 start to the Big 12 Action. Last team.

A loss to West Virginia on Saturday certainly didn’t help the Wildcats’ standing. How much help can they get in future games?

Next to the Wildcats is an Iowa team looking to regroup after losing Center Stephanie Soares for the season. Cyclone is still very talented. Next up is a home game against Texas Tech, a game the Wildcats need to win as Baylor is right around the corner.

At the start of League Action, I wrote that 20 Wins by Big 12 Tournament Basically you can participate in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats currently have 12 players. 8 more games with 15 games left? K state has some things to do.

Balor on the rise

Baylor did something unprecedented Last week we beat two top 25 teams in a row. in the meantime, Guard Sarah Andrews and guard/forward Dariana Littlepage Bugs You dominated this week’s Big 12 Player Awards.

Balor reward? Top 4 seed.

This is a big issue for the women’s tournament, as the top 16 seeds host sub-regionals, giving these teams a decisive advantage. Last year was hosted by four Big 12 teams, with two teams from Iowa State and Texas making it to the Sweet 16.

Baylor are starting to settle into their chemistry and should be able to slip Aija Blackwell in when they are ready. The Bears are also the only undefeated team left in the league. I don’t expect the Bears to run the table, but they’ll be in contention for the regular season title all the way to the end and should help them secure a top 16 seed.

To beat Texas…

Oklahoma State has come out of the bubble and is firmly on the field…for now. The Cowgirls defeated Texas at home on Saturday. Before the game they were on the field but above the bubble. That win meant he jumped the second seed for Cowgirl.

Cowgirl is currently the No. 9 seed. That’s better than Texas, who fell to the 10th seed. It also put Texas in the top 4 buys, a run before it landed in the bubble. I don’t think Texas will drop any further.

Oklahoma will travel to Baylor later this week and host TCU this weekend. Beating TCU is important to keep the Cowgirls on the field, as Baylor is hard to beat.

The Big 12 Teams of the Projected Women’s Field

The Big 12 has seven teams on the field. Seeds include:

Iowa, No. 3 seed (Seattle area), vs. Ball State, Ames, Iowa. (The seed rank has increased since last week)

Baylor4th seed (Seattle area), vs. Penn, Waco, TX (up 2 seeds from last week)

KansasNo. 6 seed (Greenville area) vs. Mississippi or Durham, Nebraska, North Carolina (dropped two seeds from last week)

Oklahoma5th Seed (Seattle Area), vs. UNLV, Tucson, AZ (no seed change)

Oklahoma9th seed (Greenville area) vs. Columbia, Colorado, South Carolina (OSU moves up 2 seeds)
