The injury bug is biting the Bruins again ahead of next season.
UCLA women’s basketball forward Angela Dougalich announced Wednesday on her Instagram that she had surgery to repair a torn ACL. Her former Oregon State transfer didn’t go under the knife for another month after suffering a knee injury while playing for Team Serbia at the FIBA World Cup on August 28.
Dugaric is expected to miss the entire 2022-2023 season, robbing the Bruins of some key talent and depth.
Dugaric missed the opening game of the 2021-2022 season after suffering a knee injury in the preseason game against Texas. The 6-foot-4-inch posthis player didn’t debut for the Bruins until February 11 against Washington State.
From there, Dougalic appeared in UCLA’s final 14 games, averaging 17.4 minutes per night. Dugalic averaged 6.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and he scored in double figures three times.
The previous season in Oregon, Dugarrick competed in all 24 contests for the Ducks, making one start. She averaged 3.4 points and 4.0 rebounds and was a true her freshman before moving to Westwood in the offseason. Dugalic, who graduated from Maine West High School (IL), was a five-star recruit.

according to Report from the Los Angeles Times On September 27, redshirt sophomore forward Izzy Anstey joined Dougaric on the sidelines at practice. Anstey is recovering from hip surgery he underwent in the offseason, and Cori said he will likely be out until the Pac-12 game, his coach closes in Los Angeles.
Without Dugarik and Anstey, the Bruins will rely on Bryn Mashkewicz, Emily Bessoir, Christine Iwara and Lina Sontag to eat up open space on the block. Iwuala and Sontag are true his freshman year, with Iwuala arriving as a Top 50 recruit and Sontag from Germany.
Bessoir tore his ACL last preseason, while Masikewich didn’t make his season debut until January 26, ending a year out in less than a week.
By signing a star-studded freshman class and bringing back a few veterans with special qualifications, UCLA has plenty of body in the backcourt and wing for this upcoming season. Positions are a whole other story. That means Close and her staff will have to get creative once again to put together rotations that are unavailable for Dougarrick.
