UNC, Arkansas plummet, Michigan rising

There was a lot of movement in the women’s college basketball rankings this week. Two teams dropped her seven places in the AP poll, but one team moved her up five places.

South Carolina remained unanimously number one for 27 consecutive weeks, the fifth longest streak in the history of the poll. Gamecocks topped his 26-week stretch in Texas to monopolize the fifth spot.

Top 5 remains unchanged 4 consecutive weeksStamford, Ohio, Indiana, and Notre Dame occupy the second to fifth places.

There are no new teams in the second half of the top 10, but each has moved up one spot. LSU moved up to 9, their highest ranking of the season. The Tigers enter conference play undefeated for the first time in 20 years.

UNC dropped seven places to 13th after losing to Michigan. jumpman invitationalThe win moves the Wolverines up five spots to 14th. With Michigan’s rise, Iowa, Maryland, and Oregon each dropped him one spot.

Gonzaga and Oklahoma moved up three places to 19th and 20th respectively. Gonzaga closed out non-conference play with two wins to move to 12-2 that year. The Sooners have a big win over Florida at the Jumpman Invitational.
