UNC Basketball duo earn CBS Sports Preseason All-America honors

Two outstanding UNC basketball players have been named to CBS Sports’ preseason All-American team for the 2022-2023 season.

In a recently published article, CBSsports The preseason All-Americans have acquired two UNC basketball standouts as they head into next season.

Traditionally, All-America teams are chosen to incorporate five players who can play together on the same team. But his three best repeaters in college basketball are big guys, and this changed the way CBS Sports assembled its team this year.

Armando Baco, of course, is one of the three big men who changed the way preseason All-American teams are built.

Baccott joins Drew Time (Gonzaga), Oscar Zibwe (Kentucky), Marcus Susser (Houston) and Jaime Jaquez Jr. (UCLA) in this year’s First Team selection.

Another easy thing for our first team. CBS Sports said he was one of his two major media outlets to be named All-American when Bacott was named to his third team at the end of his 2021-22 season. is. His high play in the NCAA Tournament was a big reason. Baccott, who led his game to the UNC title, made history by becoming the first player in tournament history to achieve a double-double in his six tournament games. He averaged 16.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. His 31 double-doubles were his single-season tie, the most in NCAA history. Carolina tries to win the title around Bako. — Matt Norlander

Another tar heel to earn preseason All-American honors is guard Caleb Love, who was named to the CBS Sports Second Team. Love includes Trace Jackson Davis (Indiana), Hunter Dickinson (Michigan), Kendric Davis (Memphis) and Nick Smith (Arkansas) in this unit.

Love was a second-year NCAA Tournament supernova in North Carolina, running all the way to the title game, scoring 30 in UCLA’s Sweet 16 and 28 in the Final Four against rival Duke.He remains the most microwaveable bucket getter in the ACC going into his junior season and should continue to thrive for the Tar Heels, who play in a more natural off-ball role next to backcourt mate RJ Davis. — Kyle Boone

Both players deservedly earned this honor, and both are expected to be the best players in the country this season. With his new NIL rule in place and a desire to recover last season’s national championship loss, the UNC basketball program will benefit from the return of both players for the 2022-2023 season.
