Undefeated Terps, Saint Louis Meet Saturday In Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off

College Park, Maryland – An early undefeated battle unfolds Saturday afternoon as the Maryland Men’s Basketball Team (3-0) faces St. Louis (3-0) at the 2022 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun Arena . Opening chips are scheduled for 1pm and the game will air on ESPNNews. Fans can hear Matt Noble and Chris Knoche calling for action on the Maryland Sports Network (105.7 FM – Baltimore, The TEAM 980 AM – DC, One Maryland App).

On Sunday, the Terps will face either Miami or Providence to wrap up the tournament. The championship game will be played on ESPN at 1:00 PM, and the third-place match will be played on ESPNU at 3:30 PM.

 

Maryland – St. Louis: Series

  • Maryland and St. Louis have only ever seen the Terps beat the Billikens 74-66 in the 1994 NCAA Tournament at the Kansas Coliseum.

Reese has no sophomore slump

  • After a relatively quiet opening game with 7 points and 7 rebounds against Niagara, Julian Reese After scoring a career-high 19 points against both West Carolina and Binghamton, he showed fans that he could be the Terps’ dominant player. Posted his first career double-double with a high 12 rebounds.
  • Domestically, Reese ranks 16th in the nation (4th in the Big Ten) with a 78.3 field goal percentage (18/23).
  • Reese leads the Terps in scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg).

A look back at Binghamton’s victory

  • For the first time in over a decade, the Terps won their third straight game by at least 20 points when Maryland defeated Binghamton (2-1) 76-52 at the XFINITY Center on Tuesday night.
  • Maryland got off to a fast start, scoring the first eight points of the game and leading by as much as 25 points in the first half.

Fun news and notes

  • 3-0 for ninth straight season – Maryland improved to 3-0 to start their ninth straight season. The last time the Terps didn’t start 3-0 was when he lost 77-68 to UConn in the opener of the 2013-14 season.
  • November Reign – Maryland is 68-13 in November games dating back to 2010-2011.
  • Back-to-Back 20-Piece – Maryland’s victory over Binghamton marked the first time since 2010-11 that Maryland has won three straight 20-point or more wins.
