Myers, the owner of Golden State and the two-time NBA Executive of the Year, has discussed a new deal, but the talks appear to have been put on hold, sources said.

Sources say Myers’ contract is expected to expire at the end of June.

“My whole focus is on the season and the team,” Myers told ESPN on Saturday.

“We love Bob and want him to be here for a long time,” Golden State owner and CEO Joe Lacob told ESPN on Saturday.

The Warriors have also hammered out the concept of a contract extension with four-time championship coach Steve Kerr, sources said. It reduces the pressure on the organization to tie.

Golden State faces tough roster decisions amid $500 million salary and luxury tax bills expected next season, leaving one of professional sports’ most proven and highly-regarded team executives under further pressure to secure Myers, who is

A native of the Bay Area, Myers has maintained strong working relationships with all key organization members, including Lacob, Kerr and star players Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson When draymond green.

The two companies are still months away from reaching an agreement, but Myers’ situation without a new deal is somewhat unique in the market. Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri, another championship-level executive, has slashed his deal to the final weeks before reaching a new deal for 2021.

Hired as an assistant GM in 2011 and promoted to GM in 2012, Myers oversaw drafts, trades and free-agent signings before Curry took office, shaping one of the league’s modern dynasties.

Kerr is under contract until the 2023-24 season, but several of his peers, including Phoenix’s Monty Williams, Memphis’ Taylor Jenkins and Chicago’s Billy Donovan, have been in similar contract situations in recent months. We have agreed to an extension.
