We are in the off-season sweet spot and people are really starting to get excited. Golden State Warriors The coming season … So it seemed like a good time to take your email bag and answer some urgent questions.
Thank you for the wonderful Q!
Considering the defeats of GP2, Otto and Beri, should J-Wise reappear next year with the addition of Divin Vincenzo and Trabion Williams?
— Speaking (@ JohnSan79325274) July 27, 2022
Well, just like technically, I’ll add JaMychal Green instead of Trevion Williams. Trevion Williams may still make a roster.
That said, on paper, no, this team is worse. Gary Payton II is really, For real We couldn’t design a better design for this team than Otto Porter Jr. Adding floor space and playmaking for Nemanya Bierica made the Warriors a hit. I like greens and I really like Dante di Vincenzo.
but, As I wrote a while ago, I still think they could be a better team. As you say, they will have James Wiseman this year. They will spend the full season of Klay Thompson, probably not the rust that was so obvious at the end of last year. They probably have Jordan Poole, who has taken an even bigger step, and Andrew Wiggins, who is now used to the spotlight, and probably doesn’t have the horrifying two-month stretch he had a year ago. Add some potential leap from Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. It’s easy to see that dub could be even better this year, although it gets worse on paper.
Can they get Montresul?
— GrandmasterStache (@sallowyerpride) July 26, 2022
Probably not. Montrezl Harrell will be an absolutely amazing addition to the Warriors. He’s legally one of the best pick and roll scorers across the NBA, and a bench scorer as good as you’ll find.
As a result, he is worth much more money than the veteran minimum contract that the Warriors can offer.
Dub has only two paths to sign Harrell. First, no one is willing to offer him a contract worth more than the minimum amount, as his recent felony drug royalties have suppressed his value well (). I don’t think it’s very likely). The second is to get big discounts to try to win the ring or rebuild your reputation in a good organization (likely, but still very unlikely). ..
But we can dream!
If Santos goes to Santa Claus, does Dub have draft protection against being poached by another NBA team with an open roster spot?
— X (@ X69939584) July 27, 2022
No, I don’t think so. Guisantos currently has a contract with the Brazilian team, and only then can the Warriors retain his rights when he comes to the NBA.
However, the G League is an NBA company. Players cannot be drafted and hidden in the G League. If he wants to play in Santa Claus, they either use his roster spot (similar to Alen Smailagić) while he plays there or waive his rights and make him Santa Cruz. You would want to sign and not have an NBA team. Offer him a real contract.
Will JK or Baldwin get a lot of time 3 to 4?
— Bud (@ Bud71398246) July 26, 2022
This is a very different question. Will Jonathan Kuminga or Patrick Baldwin Jr. develop a reliable 3-point shot?
In theory, the question is very different. In fact, it’s the same. If the answer is “yes”, the answer to your question is “yes”. If the answer is no, then the answer to your question is no.
Is there bad blood between the Greens? JaMaychal was somewhat scary to dub during his stint in the west, especially as a nugget.
— AE Russell (@ ARtheGR8est) July 26, 2022
I don’t know. JaMychal was a horror in court, but he is a respected player. And Draymond is a player who always calms things down if you’re on his side because of all his ferociousness (he’s with Tristan Thompson after being attacked by him). Things were gladly calmed down, and they weren’t even teammates!).
How many minutes does James Wiseman have to expect for each game? I expect it to be closer to 15 than 20. Is it appropriate? (Some hay + lots of red-throated loons @ 5)
— Sahil Kemkar (@ skemkar3) July 26, 2022
Unlike Wiseman’s rookie year, the Warriors are chasing victory for this season’s championship, so it’s hard to say. So I don’t think there really is a way to know what he expects until he sees what he looks like in court.
If he wins it, I expect something in the 8-10 minute range to open the season and am willing to go 15-20 (or more!). But they don’t have to rush it. They survived last year with Rooney as their only center. JaMychal Green seems to be equipped as a small ball 5 rather than a porter or Bierica.
Oh, as a bonus. How fun is the pool, moody, Baldwin Junior, Kuminga, and Wiseman lineups? And how good is it? I have a lot of fun and go in very bad condition.
— Sahil Kemkar (@ skemkar3) July 26, 2022
It would be very, very, very, very bad. And perhaps after two possessions, it wouldn’t be very interesting.
Even an interesting lineup can be painful to see when it’s scary.
Another big one.
White Side, Cousin, Aldridge, Griffin
Or Carmelo— Wesley Villanueva (@c_wesley_v) July 27, 2022
Only the two names out there are of interest to me. And this warns me that I’m pretty sure the Warriors have finished his move. The first is Hassan Whiteside, which I think will be significantly added to the roster unless there are out-of-court concerns. The White Side is one of the best rebounders in the NBA and a very good defensive player. He is also the absolute beast of the pick and roll scorer, a player who appears to be earning half a dozen points from aggressive rebounds every night.
By EPM, Whiteside was an offensive player in the 90th percentile last year and a defensive player in the 73rd percentile. He is essentially what the Warriors want to be a Wiseman and has a reputation built by some goofy Snapchat and one or five looks, without a three-point shoot. Shaqtin’a Fool.
That’s why I love the Warriors’ white side. But with JaMychal Green signed, he feels less important, but I’m also happy with Carmelo Anthony. Still, Melo is far from the old Melo, but he’s an efficient bench scorer, and the Warriors can use that 10-15 minutes.
Is it possible to sign my cousin despite having Loon, Wise and two Greens on the front court?
— McKee (@DolencioMacky) July 27, 2022
I do not think so. First of all, I don’t think the Warriors like DeMarcus Cousins very much. There is a reason why there was no talk of reunion after the first stint with Dubs. I think it didn’t work very well in the company.
He also doesn’t really fit what they are looking for. He’s not half of Kevon Looney, and doesn’t offer a hyper-athletic alternative look like Wiseman, and can’t match the benefits of Greens or Kuminga’s Small Ball 5. I’m not sure what role he will play.
Who will get the statue at Chase Center? All of Core 3?
— Quy Le (@quytennis) July 27, 2022
Core 3 gets a statue. There is no question about it.
The only question is … Kevin Durant? Joe Racob said KD would get the statue. Perhaps it was just a story. Racob wanted to stay on the good side of Durant, butter him and maintain a potential reunion at the table. But I think it was difficult.
And of course! Durant may have only played with the Warriors for three years, who cares? He is the top 15 all-time player who has spent the best three years of his career in the Bay Area. He was the best or second best player on the two best Warriors teams you’ll ever see. He has two final MVP trophies.
His time with the Warriors was by LeBron James Miami heatWorth celebrating accordingly.
Now, do you put the KD statue in Core 3? Do you put it apart from them? Would you like to place all four separately?
I’m not going to answer that either …
