Why European star Vasilije Micic didn’t end up with Bulls this summer

Vasilije Micic is the world’s best player currently not in the NBA.

Every summer report seems to surface The number of teams interested in the Euroleague Final for MVP with the 6’5″ Serbian combo guard who led Turkish powerhouse Anadolu Efes to back-to-back Euroleague Championship wins. After that, every summer ends, he chooses to stay in Europe. The Bulls were said to be primarily interested this summer (the Bucks were in as well), but in the end Micic chose to return to Anadolu his Ephesus.

what happened? Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney Speaks to League Executives.

First, there was Mike himself. To ditch Efes and head into his NBA, Micic wanted a few things. Salaries ranging from $6 million a year to he’s $7 million, starting spots (or at least starter-type minutes), and roles on competing teams.

It limited the pool of teams he played on, most of them already over the cap.

The NBA’s general manager told Heavy Sports, “If you were a tax team of a guy who didn’t know how he fit in, I think he would have been hesitant to give up the entire midlevel.” Mostly this year it’s the tax team, which means they’re using their best chance to improve the unknown and risky guy.(Milos) The Clippers’ experience with Teodosic is what a lot of teams are saying is ‘ We can’t afford to spend a lot of money, so we can’t afford to make mistakes like that.

For those who don’t remember, Teodosic was similar to Misic in that he was the best player in the world outside of the NBA. He came to the Clippers on his two-year, $12 million deal and made some great plays, but he never fit in. He’s on that team and in an NBA game.

The “Process” 76ers drafted Micic in the second round (52nd pick) of 2014, eventually trading the draft rights to the Thunder. The GM has seen him as a potential NBA player fit for the NBA for that long time.Micic showcases what he could play next to Serbia’s Nikola Jokic in EuroBasket. The GM is always a risk are trying to limit the After not doing enough at Micic this year, he returned to Europe.

But rumors are back next year.
