Women’s basketball AP Top 25: Baylor is unranked for the first time in 19 years

South Carolina remains number one for 30 straight weeks, but there’s a lot of movement in the latest AP Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll. The unranked USC Trojans were then No. 2 at Stanford on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Baylor Lady Bears are out of the top 25 for the first time since 2004 after losses to Oklahoma State and West Virginia State.

USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb told the crowd at the Galen Center that her team “Make something special” After winning Stanford. The Trojans dominated from the start as they held the Cardinals to just his four points in the first quarter. The loss was Stanford’s first loss in his Pac-12 game since January 2021. They dropped him two places to his fourth place.

Baylor, who was ranked 18th last week, has been a regular in the AP Top 25 poll for 19 years, starting January 5, 2004. Only his two teams, Tennessee (565) and UConn (556-still active), have recorded longer streaks. The Lady Bears’ run also included his 21st consecutive week at No. 1 through 2011–12.

South Carolina, Ohio State and LSU are the only three remaining undefeated teams in the country, all of whom are in the top three this week. Ohio State University and LSU are second and third respectively, their best rankings since 2006. Both 18-0 starts are program records.
