Women’s Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

Rhode Island Providence – Providence College Women’s Soccer Head Coach Samlopes The team’s Fall 2022 schedule has been released today (July 25th). The 18-game slate includes a match against seven teams that competed in the 2021 NCAA tournament and finished in the top 50 of the NCAA ARPI at the end of the season (December 6th).

The brothers will open the 2022 season against Colgate in Chapeyfield at Anderson Stadium in Providence on Thursday, August 18th. Providence, Rhode Island will then head to Boston, Massachusetts to play against Boston University on Sunday, August 21st. Home turf with a record of 7-1-1.

Three of Providence’s next five games will begin at Rutgers University’s 2021 NCAA Tournament Final Four Team and will take place on the home ground (August 25). The Scarlet Knights lost in the NCAA tournament semi-finals last season, ending with a 19-4-2 overall record. The monks will also face Boston University (September 8th) and Monmouth (September 11th) at Anderson Stadium’s Chapey Field.

On September 15, monks will end a non-conference part of their schedule with their cross-town rival Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Providence will begin Big East Conference play against Seton Hall on September 22nd in South Orange, NJ, and will return to play against Butler on September 29th.

On October 2, the monks moved to Omaha, Nebraska to play Clayton, and then Chapey for the next two matches between Depol (October 6) and St. Johns (October 9). Return to the field.

Providence concludes the regular season with three of the last five games. The monks travel to play Marquette (October 13), defending Big East champion Xavier (October 20) and Big East enemy UConn (October 23). The team will face Georgetown (October 16) and Villanova (October 27) in the final two home games at Anderson Stadium’s Chapey Field.

In the Big East, four teams finished in the top 50 of NCA ARPI alongside Providence (No. 41). Georgetown led the group at number 14, followed by Xavier at number 16 and St. Johns at number 37. Butler fell just below Providence at number 43.

Providence completed the 2021 season with an overall record of 10-7-3, including the 5-3-2 mark during the Big East Action. The monks finished fifth in the Big East rankings and won the first large bid for the 2021 NCAA tournament since 1993.
