Women’s Volleyball Falls at No. 3 Juniata

Huntingdon, Pennsylvania (October 7, 2022) – Junior Liz Patterson Despite finishing with a team-high eight kills, the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team fell to third place. Conference matchup held at Memorial Gymnasium as part of the Juniata Invitational.

Senior Ava Smithing The Ducks finished with 3 kills and 3 blocks, ending their 7-game winning streak as they fell to 14-5 on the year.

Mackenzie Corey and Audrey Moose finished with 13 kills each, leading the 15-1 Juniata on an eight-game winning streak.

After Juniata took the first set, Stevens had his best performance of the game in the second set, hitting .243 (11-3-33), beating the Eagles by 25-18. We pulled away from the game by one point. After the team bounced back and forth for the opening points, Patterson’s two kills and a 5-1 run by the Ducks caused by an ace put Stevens completely forward. At 6-1 he pushed the Ducks advantage to 17-10 and the Ducks closed out the frame with seven of his last ten points. Patterson registered half of her kills on set to help the Ducks win the match.

Juniata had her best performance in the third set, winning the frame at .400 (13-3-25). An 8-0 run opened the set after a kill from Junior. El Maggio An attacking error drew the Ducks within 4 (11-7).

The Dax took advantage of Juniata’s three errors to take an early lead in the final set and build a 4-0 lead.
