Olden Pollinis hasn’t played in the NBA since 2003-04, when he played two games for the Clippers at age 39. But he’s played over 1,000 games in his NBA, so in some areas, he has credibility…in general.
However, he recently said that 1) it seemed strange and 2) it could be based on a parody site. It also provoked the ire of Kevin Durant, who defended Kyrie Irving from the attack.
For context, here’s what Polynice said during a recent appearance on The Odd Couple podcast hosted by Chris Broussard and Rob Parker.
“One of the reasons he and Kyrie Irving have issues is because of a statement he made during a party at Steve Nash’s house,” Polynis claimed. , Kyrie said, ‘We need to give Kobe the MVP trophy back.’ You didn’t deserve them.
Nash won MVP in 2005 and 2006. Bryant did not make it into the top 10 in 2005. He finished his 2006 in 4th place.
Pollinis did not say how he knew about this detail. He would not have attended the Nets team dinner. Clutchpoint’s Paolo Sonco points out To the real possibility that Polinis was echoing a fake tweet! “Olden appears to have picked up this story from a two-month-old tweet on a parody/satire account named Ballsack Sports,” Songco wrote on Tuesday.
Kyrie Irving and Steve Nash’s relationship is ‘irrevocable’, says BSS @WindhorstESPNIrving and Nash were involved in an incident in late March when “Irving asked if he could see Kobe’s MVP trophy” during a team dinner at Nash’s house. pic.twitter.com/Omys8WQyeD

The reason we’re arguing this is because KD defended Irving on Sunday in very strong terms, calling Polynice’s comments “a generational lie.” He’s got his teammate’s back…
Lol if that’s a generational lie then we’re all in trouble.People may not like the truth but it always comes..as PJ Tucker said “I love you”..you is still one of the all time greats.. nice to know i still have a little influence there.. KD responded to me.. F yeah!!!

KD is KD and he didn’t let Polynice’s response pass without another tweet…
Irving has been and will continue to be the subject of many rumors. He’s a controversial player and person, but one thing we do know is that his best friend will come to his defense. Does responding to a statement that is news and at worst willfully dishonest draw more attention to the original material? And is it worth it?
