Will Palmer Joins Florida Gators Coaching Staff

Gainesville, FL — Florida Gators Track and Field has hired Will Palmer as Associate Head Coach and Assistant Track and Field Cross Country Coach. Mike Holloway today.

Palmer came to Florida from Alabama and has worked with long-distance runners for the past five years. While in Alabama, she led her Crimson Tide women’s cross-country team to her 2022 SEC cross-country team championship and the 2022 NCAA cross-country championship where she finished 3rd. I helped. Four Crimson Tide her runners ranked in the top 20 at the 2022 NCAA Championship. Additionally, Palmer led her Honda Cup winner Marcy Chelangut to her 2022 NCAA Outdoor her 10,000m and her 2020 NCAA Cross Country individual titles.

During her time with the Alabama Women’s Cross Country, Palmer coached runners to 9 First Team All-American honors and 12 All-SEC honors. On the track, Palmer has led nine NCAA First Team All-Americans, 16 NCAA Individual Qualifiers, six SEC Individual Champions, and 13 SEC medalists.

Prior to attending the University of Alabama, he spent two years in Georgetown (2016-18), Western Kentucky (2015-16), and Iowa State (2013-15) as director of operations for the track and cross-country teams. . Oklahoma (2011-13).

While at Georgetown, Palmer-coached runners earned 43 All-Big East honors. The HOYA runner also earned national honors in the men’s mile, women’s mile, men’s 1,500m, men’s 10,000m, distance medley, his relay, and men’s cross-country from 2017 to 2018.

Prior to Georgetown, Palmer spent a year in Western Kentucky helping the team in the 2016 Men’s Indoor and Outdoor C-USA Team Championships. During his time at Bowling Green, he coached Enderou Takeru to the C-USA men’s outdoor 10,000m title.

Palmer arrived in Western Kentucky after spending two years in Iowa. The Cyclones won back-to-back Big 12 Women’s Cross-Country Team Championships and finished runner-up at the 2014 NCAA Women’s Cross-Country Championships.

A native of Bethesda, Maryland, he is a four-year letter winner on the Williams College men’s cross-country and track teams.
